reMarkable Paper Pro Move templates and planner (9:16)
The Paper Pro Move is the only reMarkable with a tall 9:16 screen. Most templates and planners are drawn for 3:4 pages, and on the Move they come out small, framed by white bands. This article explains what the screen shape changes, how to get a template or a planner onto the Move, and what to check so that a 7.3 inch page stays readable and easy to tap.
What makes the Move different
reMarkable's Paper Pro Move page gives the screen as 7.3 inches. Its shape is 9:16, the proportions of a phone held upright, while the reMarkable 2, Paper Pure and Paper Pro all have 3:4 screens. A page drawn for a 3:4 screen has to be scaled down until its width fits the narrow Move. That leaves empty bands above and below the page and shrinks every line, every label and every button.
Size adds to the problem. Text that reads well on the 11.8 inch Paper Pro becomes tiny on 7.3 inches, and a tab that was easy to hit becomes a sliver. A planner for the Move has to be drawn for its shape and checked at its size, not just exported smaller.
The template menu on the Move
The Move runs the same software as the other reMarkable tablets, so templates work the same way. The template menu inside a notebook offers reMarkable's own page backgrounds, and the Templates help article says custom templates are not supported. Methods, reMarkable's library of templates and workbooks, needs a Connect subscription for downloads and only offers reMarkable's own catalogue.
A planner of your own therefore goes onto the Move as a PDF document. That is also the only way its links can work: a background in the template menu is a single page with nothing to tap, while a document keeps hundreds of linked pages together.
Importing a planner onto the Move
- Download the PDF and unzip it if it came in a zip file. The tablet cannot open a zip.
- Open the reMarkable desktop or mobile app, signed in to the same account as your Move.
- Drag the PDF into the app. It syncs to the Move and appears in My files.
This is the method in reMarkable's Importing and exporting files article, the same on every model. Open the file, write on any page with the Marker, and tap links with a fingertip: a tap with the Marker draws a small stroke on the button instead of pressing it. Closing the toolbar shows the whole page. Links in PDF documents need reMarkable software 3.3 or later.
What a 9:16 planner should get right
When you look at a planner for the Move, these are the points that decide whether it is pleasant to use every day.
- Drawn at 9:16. The page should fill the screen from top to bottom with no white bands. If a sample shows bands, it was drawn for another shape.
- A floor for text size. Look at the smallest labels: weekday letters, week numbers, footers. In the Graphite Move layout nothing is smaller than 8 pt on the screen, and a script checks that floor on every page.
- Greys dark enough for e-ink. Pale grey looks elegant on a monitor and fades on an e-ink screen. No text in the Move layout is lighter than a dark grey, #555, a rule added after Move owners sent photos of an earlier version on their own screens.
- Rows you can write in. A schedule squeezed into half-hour lines is hard to fill with a pen on a narrow page. The Move layout gives each day one writing row per hour from 8 am to 5 pm, each as tall as a task row.
- Taps that land. No link is smaller than 3.5 mm, navigation buttons are at least 6 mm, and nothing tappable sits on the toolbar side.
How a planner fits on a narrow page
A narrow page changes the layout, not only the size. Twelve mini calendars do not fit across a 9:16 page at a readable size, so the Move layout shows the year at a glance one quarter per page: three full-width months with large day numbers, and a switcher from Q4 2026 to Q4 2027 on each page. The month page has a narrow week-number column, which leaves wider squares for the days.
Everything else works as on the larger layouts: a top bar with Index, Year, Quarter, Month, Week and Tasks, the ‹ › arrows for the previous and next page, month tabs on the side, and a task list for every month. The whole file is 643 pages, from 1 October 2026 to 31 December 2027, and about 1.6 MB, light enough to jump around quickly.
Other files for the Move
The same rules apply to every Graphite file drawn in the Move 9:16 layout: the undated Graphite Notebook, the Weekly Planner 2027, the Daily Journal 2027, the Habit and Health Tracker, the Meeting Notes Notebook and the E-ink Paper Pack. Each one has a Move version next to its 3:4 versions. If you also own a 3:4 tablet, the all-device Graphite Planner 2027 includes both the Large 3:4 and the Move 9:16 files in one download.

Right- or left-handed on the Move
The Move's toolbar sits along one side of the screen. In the right-handed files the month tabs are on the right, and the left strip, where the toolbar opens, has nothing to tap. The left-handed files mirror that. reMarkable's help describes a left-hand mode that moves the tools to the other side, so choose the file that matches your setting. The article on left-handed planners explains why the side matters.
Troubleshooting
- There are white bands above and below the page.
- The file was drawn for a 3:4 screen. Use a Move 9:16 file.
- A link does nothing, or the Marker draws on it.
- Tap with a finger. If links never respond, check for a software update: links in PDF documents need software 3.3 or later.
- The text is too small for me.
- Use the main Move files rather than the denser Move Classic ones, which are included only for people who prefer the original pages.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I add my own templates to the Paper Pro Move?
- Not to the template menu: reMarkable's help says custom templates are not supported. Import a PDF as a document instead, which also keeps its links working.
- Will a normal 3:4 planner work on the Move?
- It opens, but it is scaled down to fit the narrow 9:16 screen, with white bands above and below and smaller text and buttons. A 9:16 layout fills the screen.
- How small is the text in the Move layout?
- Nothing is smaller than 8 pt on the screen or lighter than a dark grey, #555. A script checks both on every page before release.
