reMarkable Paper Pro planner 2027: templates vs a hyperlinked PDF

On a reMarkable Paper Pro you can plan 2027 in two ways: with the page templates built into notebooks, or with a hyperlinked PDF planner imported as a document. They are less rivals than tools for different jobs. This article compares them on the Paper Pro, explains how a planner fits the 11.8 inch screen, and shows how to try a 2027 file before you buy.

The Paper Pro screen

reMarkable's Paper Pro page gives an 11.8 inch colour screen. Its 1620 by 2160 pixels make a 3:4 portrait shape, the same shape as the 10.3 inch reMarkable 2 and Paper Pure. A planner drawn at 3:4 fills it from edge to edge, with no bars.

The Large 3:4 page of the Graphite planner is drawn for a 10.3 inch screen. On the Paper Pro it is shown about 15 percent bigger, so text and buttons come out larger than their design size, never smaller. The pages are drawn in black and greys only, so they look the same on the colour Paper Pro as on a black and white reMarkable.

Templates: one page, no links

The template menu inside a notebook holds single-page backgrounds: lines, grids, a week view, a checklist. You choose one for each page, write over it and can swap it later. reMarkable's Templates help article says custom templates are not supported. Methods, reMarkable's library of templates and workbooks, needs a Connect subscription for downloads and only offers reMarkable's own catalogue.

Templates are good for pages you fill where they are: a meeting sheet, a lined page, a to-do list. What they cannot do is connect pages: nothing on a week template takes you to a month or back to an index.

A hyperlinked PDF: a whole year under your finger

A PDF planner is one document of hundreds of pages, where every month links to its weeks, every week to its days and every page back to the index. On the Paper Pro it goes in as a document, not through the template menu, and that is exactly what keeps its links working.

Importing a 2027 planner onto the Paper Pro

  1. Download the planner and unzip it. Take the Large 3:4 file in the edition and hand you want.
  2. Drag the PDF into the reMarkable desktop or mobile app, signed in to the same account as your tablet. It syncs and appears in My files.
  3. Or connect a USB cable, turn on the USB web interface in the storage settings, open 10.11.99.1 in a browser and drag the file onto that page.

Both routes are described in reMarkable's Importing and exporting files and Transferring files using a USB cable articles. The USB route takes files up to 100 MB; a Graphite planner file is about 2 MB.

Using it every day

  • Write with the Marker on any page, and tap links with a fingertip. A tap with the Marker draws a small stroke on the button instead.
  • Links in PDF documents need reMarkable software 3.3 or later.
  • The toolbar opens along one side. Graphite files keep that side free of anything tappable, and the left-handed files swap sides.

Using both

Many people keep a planner for dates and notebooks with templates for everything else. On the Paper Pro that costs nothing: the planner is one document in My files, and your notebooks keep their own templates. If you want undated pages with links, the Graphite Notebook does for notes what the planner does for dates: 10 tabbed sections of 20 pages, each with an index page where every number opens its page.

Troubleshooting

A link does nothing, or the Marker draws on the button.
Tap with a finger. If links never respond, update the tablet to software 3.3 or later.
The planner is not in the template menu.
It is not meant to be. Open it from My files as a document; that is where its links work.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add a 2027 planner to the Paper Pro template menu?
No. reMarkable's help says custom templates are not supported. Import the PDF as a document instead; that is also what keeps its links working.
Which planner file fits the reMarkable Paper Pro?
Large 3:4. The 11.8 inch screen is 3:4, so the page fills it with no bars, a little larger than on a 10.3 inch reMarkable.
Do I need Connect for a PDF planner?
No. Importing your own PDF with the app or the USB web interface works without it. reMarkable's help pages say Connect is needed to download templates from Methods.
