Kindle Scribe planner 2027: what works, what doesn't, and the free sample

A hyperlinked planner on a Kindle Scribe can be a pleasure or a frustration, and the difference is rarely the design of the planner. It depends on how the PDF reaches the tablet, where its links sit and what you tap with. This is a plain list of what works and what doesn't for a 2027 PDF planner on every Scribe generation, with a free sample to check it on your own tablet.

Which Kindle Scribe you have

Every Scribe has a 3:4 portrait screen, so one edge-safe file fits them all and fills the screen. On the 11 inch models the route in is the same Send to Kindle, but we have no owner report on them yet, so open the sample first.

What works

• Writing on every page. Amazon's help page Kindle Personal Document File Types That Support Notes says you can write directly on the page in PDF documents imported through Send to Kindle.
• Links inside the planner. Tap a month tab, a calendar square or the top bar with a finger, or select the pointer, the hand tool, first. The links are part of the PDF, so writing on a page never breaks them.
• A full year that stays light. The Graphite Kindle Scribe files have 639 pages and weigh about 2 MB each, far below the 50 MB email limit and the 200 MB web limit that Amazon gives on its page Send PDF, EPUB and Other Files to Your Kindle.

What doesn't

• USB copies. The same Amazon help page says the Kindle Scribe doesn't support writing directly on the page in PDF documents loaded via USB-C. The file opens, but you can only read it.
• Convert. Email a PDF with convert in the subject and it becomes a reflowed Kindle book: no pages, no layout and no links. Send it again with any other subject.
• Your own notebook templates. The notebook template list is fixed. A planner goes into the library as a document instead, which is also what keeps its links.

The edge problem, and what a planner should do about it

Owners have reported that, after a firmware update, taps very close to the top and right edges of the Scribe screen are sometimes missed, and a tap at the top also brings up the toolbar. Month tabs flush against the edge send many taps into exactly those zones.

In the Kindle Scribe edition of the Graphite planner, every link and button sits at least 10 mm from the top edge and from the left and right edges, measured at the size of a 10.2 inch screen. A script checks that distance on every page, and all 96,876 links in the 6 files are opened by three PDF readers and checked before release.

What is inside the 2027 files

Each file runs from 1 October 2026 to 31 December 2027: a year at a glance on 1 page, goals for 2027, key dates, 5 quarters, 15 months with a habit tracker and a task list each, 66 week pages and a page for every day with a schedule, top 3, tasks and notes, plus 16 project pages and 40 note pages. Any page is at most 2 taps from the Index.

The download has 6 files: three calendar editions, Sunday or Monday start and a 12-hour or 24-hour clock, each right- and left-handed.

Test the free sample in two minutes

1. Send the tiny Kindle Scribe sample with Send to Kindle, with conversion switched off.
2. Open it from your library and write a line on the day page with the pen.
3. With a finger, tap Oct 2026 on the index, then 15 on the month, then Index in the top bar.
4. Tap OCT, the month tab nearest the top right corner, five times and count how many taps open the month.

Troubleshooting

I can't write on the pages.

The PDF came by USB, or was sent before November 2022. Send it again with Send to Kindle.
